A bit of a breather today. Had a chance to do a couple of ink drawings. I haven't touched my piano in almost a month. I think this one was a subconscious reminder to let my fingers relieve their itch. Perhaps later tonight.

I had this sketch languishing in my sketchbook for a while now. It was a first pass at brainstorming ideas for the illustration I did for "Sultana Lena's Gift" for Realms of Fantasy Magazine, some time ago. The final painting focused more on the mechanical bird, but I had some initial ideas to center more on Lena.

ReplyDeleteNo matter how busy my day (and as a working mom, you know how that is), I always manage to play my piano, even if just for a moment. Since restarting lessons in January, I feel I'm growing and flourishing in all areas of my life including art and writing. I was stuck in a rut with piano until I found a mentor in my teacher, who is pushing me in ways I would have never explored on my own (e.g. Jazz). I even did a portrait (Hummingbird-Shapeshifter) to honor her brilliance. Music and art are close cousins, one feeding the other. Paulina Cassidy (tarot artist) has a wonderful CD out that is a reflection of her artistic outpouring. Let the music happen and see it pour into your artwork.
