Muir Woods

Hot hot day today in Oakland. What to do? Pack everything up and head out to take refuge under the trees. Spent the day amongst the redwoods of Muir Woods. As soon as I got there, I was reminded that I really need to do it much more often.

We weren't the only ones with that idea. It was rather packed with people. But even all the crowds along the walkway can't diminish the beauty or the majesty of those ancient giants. And when you stand on the path and crane your head up to see the sun streaming through from so high up, and hear the distant rustle of the leaves, there is a peace and calm that steals through you.

  1. AAAhhhhhh... the photographs are great! I have to figure out my camera! And WHEN did you do all those sketches?! Most of the time we were walking... Sketching on the sly, they are beautiful.

  4. Gorgeous! Majestic! If I lived near enough to them, I would run off for a visit far too frequently. I've never actually set eyes on them, but I mean to before my time expires, whenever that should be. Thank you for sharing photos from your visit! I'm glad you experienced such a wonderful day.

  6. Wow! Thank you so much for the beautiful photos. That owl is sooooooo adorable. I love them. I have a family of owls around my house and at night I can hear their hoot call. One of the most beautiful birds. Totally magical photos. I see where you get some of your inspiration from. How can you not be inspired with the majestic beauty of that place. I'm so glad you shared with us. Great photography.
